Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

No, a referral is not required. Chiropractors are primary healthcare practitioners meaning you can seek care without a referral from a general practitioner.

Very rarely, insurance policies may require a referral in order to cover the cost of the appointment. In these cases, it would be a good idea to check your policy prior to booking an appointment.

How do I book an appointment?

To book an appointment, call 902-892-3494.  If you think of it outside of business hours, feel free to leave a message and a receptionist will return your call.

Currently, we are not set up to do online booking. However, if you message me on Instagram, I can book you in.  If you message and I do not get back to you in 48 hours, call the office to book, or just message again as sometimes DMs can get buried or missed.

Do you bill insurance?

Yep! We are happy to direct bill insurance whenever we can.

Do I have to get adjusted during treatment?

Absolutely not.  Patient preference is always taken into account when deciding what modalities will be used during treatment.  There are many different techniques and tools we can use if you’re not comfortable with manual adjustments or the “cracking” sound.

What is the "cracking" sound that I hear during adjustments?

The popping sound that you may hear during adjustments is simply gas bubbles bursting.

Our joints contain a substance called synovial fluid which helps keep the joints mobile and healthy.  Within this fluid are dissolved gasses like oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen.  Chiropractic adjustments use high velocity (AKA fast), low amplitude (AKA shallow) force that restores normal joint range of motion.  This quick joint movement can also cause gas bubbles to burst which creates that popping sound.

The “crack” or “pop” is just a byproduct of the adjustment and not all adjustments make those sounds, nor are the sounds required for an adjustment to be effective.

Do I have to be in pain to see a chiropractor?

No, you don’t need to have pain to see me.  Many people use chiropractic as a way to maintain their joint health and keep their body moving and functioning optimally.

How often do I come for treatments?

Treatment plans are specific to each patient.  Depending on what you are experiencing, we can come up with a plan that suits your needs.
